Indonesia 14: Life at Rural Rote

Rote Island is part of the Rote-Ndao Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. It has an area of 1,200 km2 (463 sq mi). The island is situated to the southwest of the larger island of Timor. The southest island of Indonesia (Dana Island) is only few miles from south coast of Rote. Population of Rote-Ndao Regency was 119,711 persons (2010). The capital of Rote-Ndao regency is Baa, located at norther side of Rote Island. There is a daily ferry to the island from Kupang. The trip between Kupang and Ba’a takes around 2 hours.

These are some photos of rural people that I captured in Rote. Presented in black & white version.
