Lake Toba is the largest lake in Indonesia and the largest volcanic lake in the world. It is actually a caldera of a supervolcano. The last eruption was occurred in an estimated 69,000 to 77,000 years ago. It wss the strongest known explosive eruption anywhere on Earth in the last 25 million years. The lake is 100 kilometres long and 30 kilometres wide, and 505 meters at its deepest point. Located in the middle of the northern part of Sumatera with a surface elevation of about 900 meters.
Now, Lake Toba is an important tourist attraction in Indonesia. These photos were captured from top of hill at Sidikalang. I feel fortunate to capture the rainbow over this famous lake.
